Our 1780s front lacing stays feature a lower bust line, more extreme diagonal style lines, and are overall about 3/4"–1" shorter than our earlier 18th century closed front stays. This creates a conical torso with a defined waist, a lower prow-front bosom, and drawn-back shoulders — hallmarks of the fashionable silhouette of the late 1700s. The front lacing also simplifies dressing, and the closed back ensures a lovely smooth line beneath the Anglaise and Italian gowns that were so popular during this period. These stays are pictured with an optional stomacher. A stomacher also allows people with larger chests to lace a bit looser across the bust. Add one to your order for additional front support and sizing flexibility. Details: Appropriate for late 1770s to the early 1790s Buttercream cotton sateen fashion fabric outer laye
