Bread of Life

Have you ever been fasting, and as you partake of the sacrament your senses are heightened to the taste of the bread? For me, it always tastes delicious, as if I have never had bread before. As I ponder John 6:35, “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst,” I can’t help but think of how my spirit must feel as I partake of the sacrament. I think it must feel as my body does when I am fasting and my physical senses are heightened. As I think of my physical body taking in a portion of bread while fasting and the delight it takes in that small portion I am reminded that my soul needs Jesus every day. That I must feed my spirit with the things of Christ, and in so doing, celebrate the truth that my soul can delight in Christ and have the strength of being full to do the things He would have me to do.
