Ámbar del Sur is inspired in the relatively unknown and anonymous ambergris trade in Patagonia during the XVIII and XIX Centuries. A powerful amber oceanic fragrance, Ámbar del Sur epitomizes the amber fragrance classification. Before the opening of the Panama Canal in 1914, European ships had to navigate the treacherous Cape Horn to reach port towns like Punta Arenas, Valparaíso, Iquique and Acapulco, and stopped along the shores of Patagonia to replenish. During those stops, passengers disembarked and had the opportunity to trade with the local indigenous people. It is unknown whether the ambergris commerce was significant, but pieces of ambergris from this region made it to history's pages, and what inspires Ámbar del Sur are visions of peoples of different backgrounds comingling around a roaring fire, with the smells of the ocean, pelts, herbs and burnt resins permeating the air.  Ámbar del Sur owes its stunning brick color to keeping its natural ingredients in their original color
