Burundi - Kayanza Kibingo Station
Kibingo Station, situated in Kayanza, Burundi near the Rwanda border, is a coffee cherry collection site at nearly 1900 meters above sea level, serving thousands of smallholder farmers across 18 surrounding hills who grow primarily heirloom bourbon varieties introduced in the 1930s by Catholic monks from Reunion. Named for reeds along the adjacent river that prevent soil erosion, the station, established in the mid-1980s, has frequently excelled in Burundi’s Cup of Excellence. Its meticulously sorted beans roast uniformly, showing minimal color variation from yellowing to first crack and no underripe coffee in tested samples. Kibingo coffee boasts enduring raw sugar flavors that culminate in a sweet finish, elevated by top notes of fragrant warming spices, black currant, and aromatic black tea. Its brisk acidity enhances the tea-like qualities, creating a vibrant mouthfeel. Great for both filter and espresso. Washed Process 1900masl Bourbon
