The Brussels, Belgium-based ensemble Sónico, a pioneer in the historical reconstruction of tango music, vividly brings to life stunning arrangements of tango's Guardia Nueva (1920-1935), an exciting period of stylistic innovation in tango music. The performances on this record mark the first time in nearly a century that these rare arrangements have been recorded, meticulously transcribed from original 78 rpm discs by such tango luminaries as Elvino Vardara, Julio De Caro, and Osvaldo Fresedo. Recorded in 2024 in brilliant hi-fi stereo sound by renowned engineer Geert De Deken at Woodlake Music Studio in Belgium, this hefty 180-gram red vinyl pressing captures the sensuous and captivating sounds of tango in stunning warmth and clarity.
