The Graystone Monarchs, directed by Josh Duffee, is an all-star group that specializes in the hot dance music of the 1920s. For this recording, the group evokes the sounds of the Jean Goldkette Orchestra in the days when Bix Beiderbecke, Frank Trumbauer, the Dorsey Brothers, Joe Venuti, Eddie Lang, and other luminaries were in the band. This limited edition 78 rpm vinyl record features four exclusive performances made just for this EP. You will not find them on any other record or CD. "Tiger Rag" breathes vibrant new life into a jazz standard with plenty of hot solos fueled by Leigh Barker's slap bass reminiscent of Steve Brown. "Stampede" offers us a chance to hear what the legendary unissued (and subsequently lost) Goldkette recording of the Fletcher Henderson classic might have sounded like. "I'm Gonna Meet My Sweetie Now" is a thrilling performance of the original Goldkette arrangement. The EP wraps up with a fiery rendition of "Don't Wake Me Up (Let Me Dream)" that builds from the
