This painting contains a still life with a bouquet of flowers representing the face of Christ including the wound on the cheek left by the betraying kiss of a friend of Christ's, whether it be from Judas or us. It also shows the forgiveness we receive through the Resurrection of Christ and his defeat over death.  The vase is painted to be made of wood with a cross in the grain for Christ's cross. The flowers with their historical religious names from top to bottom in the bouquet are as follows:  Resurrection Lily (Easter Lily, Lilium longiflorum) Christ's Hair (Hart's tongue, Asplenium scolopendrium) Crown of Thorns (Crown of Thorns, Euphorbia milii) Christ's  Eye (Inula, Inula oculus-christi) Christ's Blood (Poppy, Papaver orientale) After I painted this piece, I digitized the painting and now it can be printed on the following substrates: high-quality, archival grade, acid-free, 100% cotton rag, 21 mil, 340gsm cold press watercolor paper with a bright white, textured surface.
