The beautiful small woodblock print 'Aoi Torii' (Blue Torii Gate, Miyajima) is by Osamu Ueda (b. 1947). It depicts the lesser-known blue torii gate at a small shrine in Miyajima, capturing the tranquil atmosphere at sunset. Osamu Ueda was born in 1947 in Hiroshima Prefecture. The artist has an unusual background, having graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Hiroshima University. He and his father, Isao Ueda (b.1924), held an exhibition together at the Kure Municipal Museum of Art. Both father and son are known for their warm artistic style.
