Allmoge Hand Carved Candelabra

Swedish mid century candelabra. Hand carved and stained wood in an allmoge (folk art) pattern, this style is likely from the 1950's. In great condition, only minor stains and dents. The candle openings are on the small side, a regular size taper candle may have to be shaved a little to fit. 7.5" tall, 14.5" wide. The term allmoge derives from Old Norse meaning ”all the people”, referring to the traditional folk art created in Scandinavia during 1600s–1900s. It reflects the everyday life, beliefs, and aesthetic traditions of farming communities before industrialization.
