Poggio al Tesoro Dedicato a Walter Bolgheri Superiore 2016

This is one of the rare 100% Cabernet Francs from Bolgheri and indeed from Italy, dedicated by Marilisa Allegrini to her brother Walter. It has become the jewel in Poggio al Tesoro’s crown. In Bolgheri’s microclimate and in the stony soils of the Via Bolgherese vineyard, situated in the prestigious area known as Soprastrada, this grape variety – which is generally used to give a touch of elegance to Bordeaux wines – finds an ideal habitat in which to express itself in an absolutely independent and original fashion. The Poggio al Tesoro 2016 Bolgheri Superiore Dedicato A Walter opens to a darkly saturated and impenetrable appearance. The bouquet is heavily enriched with black fruit, burnt ember, mesquite and campfire ash. The oak is quite evident at this stage, but it should continue to shed and sand away
