This is a handmade solid Ipe Jo Staff. Ipe is an exotic heavy wood. The Jo Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo martial arts styles. This staff is 49" in length. The diameter is 1 inch throughout its length. Ipe is twice as hard and heavy as common American Hickory. It has an amazing dark brown color. It is one of the hardest woods in the world. It has an amazing smooth sturdy feel. This jo staff has no wobble upon performing techniques. It has a beautiful heavy dark brown color. It is sanded down to a shine and finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which gives it a permanent shine and protective layer while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff, which is required for proper technique.
