It is a manual-winding watch with a high-grade Elgin movement, size 18s, grade 57 G.M. Wheeler, 11 jewels, key wind, sub-second, U.S.A. made. George M. Wheeler was one of the founders and board of directors of Elgin National Watch Co. from 1864 through 1868. To honor one of the founders of the company, the mark "G.M. Wheeler" was introduced in 1867 as a trade name or private label and it was used By Elgin National Co. on high grade pocket watch movements.
