When I hear the beginning of the song, I immediately visualize the opening credits of the show, which featured a wide array of beautiful places and people. When Miami Vice was at the height of its fame, I was only allowed to watch the opening credits. Nonetheless, I loved the movement in the song and the exoticness of the show’s locale. Living in Maryland did not acquaint me with palm trees or jai alai, so I feasted on these foreign images and the richness of color they provided. The Miami Vice Theme Song was the soundtrack of my childhood, and every time I hear it, the clock winds backward and I am reminded of what it feels like to be new.
