Gunnar Lyre 8 string

8 string lyre based on the Hillestad church portal carving depicting Gunnar in the snakepit from the Volsung Saga. The lyre body is constructed from ambrosia maple and has a spruce tonewood soundboard. A walnut rosette of two warriors fighting decorates the soundboard. This carving comes from a Migration Era helmet pressblech. The bridge is carved walnut with animal heads inspired by cast bronze germanic lyre bridges. The lyre is strung with nylgut strings to give the closest sound to period gut strings and further decorated with brass nails. Comes with a walnut tuning key and beginner lyre pamphlet.
