8" Antique Tibetan Rolmo Cymbals

An extremely fine and rare pair of Tibetan rolmo, extremely old and in amazing preserved condition. They sound amazing with the warm and mellow quality of antique bronze. The oxidation also softens the harshness typically heard in Tibetan cymbals, so they have a very smooth and pleasant tone while also being very powerful. They really move the air and are very playable. They shimmer with lively harmonics and have a powerful antique presence. With natural oxidation forming a heavy crust, these cymbals may be considerably older than my estimate. I date them conservatively 600-700 years old but they could be several centuries older. The handles and pillow are likely not original. While they look quite old, the presence of purple in the cloth would be very rare in old cloth and could mean these cloth elements were made within the last 100 years. Some instruments are used only ocassionally for special ceremonies. If they were part of such a ritual cycle, they would have been well preserved,
