While Technics makes some of the most outstanding turntables in the industry, we've noticed that the metallic industrial Japanese look just doesn't work in some living rooms. To combat this, we first designed and commissioned a wood plinth that allows the SL-1300G, SL-1200G, SL-1200GR, and SL-1200GR2 to blend nicely into a decor requiring a neutral wood tone, adding just the right amount of warmth while maintaining a sleek sophisticated look.   However, the plinth doesn't  allow for the stock hinged cover to be used. But frankly, one should never use a turntable with a hinged cover in place anyways as it acts like a large sail or microphone picking up all the acoustical energy in the air.
