Mercer Throw

54" x 70" (137cm x 178cm).The Mercer Throw was designed by Sam Smith, a graphic designer and artist based in London. Sam's work is rooted in the city but his imagination lives elsewhere - specifically in the dramatic coastlines of Hawaii and California, where sun, surf, cliffs and subtropical landscapes give him a near-endless source of material to draw from. The Mercer Throw feels like a view from underwater. Branching, flowing forms in burnt orange, cobalt blue, forest green, dusty lavender, warm pink, mustard and near-black weave across a cream background with no start and no end point - like coral and kelp caught mid-drift. The palette is bold but the shapes stay organic, keeping it warm rather than graphic.Every Slowdown Studio throw starts as an original artwork.
