Heirloom Black Chickpeas
This bean launched our company! What began as a hobby with a handful of beans quickly blossomed into a business. We introduced America to these unique beans hailing from Afghanistan, now grown in California. Fun fact: despite their name, the Black Heirloom Chickpea is actually an heirloom dried black Garbanzo bean. Small in stature but big in flavor, these tiny beans have a firm texture, smokey flavor and are packed with protein. Superfood stat: Black Chickpeas, or Kala Chana, are high in protein with 19 grams per 100 grams, contain an array of vitamins and minerals, and low on the glycemic index, making them an ideal addition to meals for those on a diabetic diet. They are truly a wonder food. Good for: Vegetarians, vegans, and those who want to enjoy improved heart and digestive health. Try them as a meat replacement and use them to make falafel! How to store: Don’t spill the beans! Keep them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place, and their shelf-life will be a couple of year
