2006 Korbin Kameron, Cabernet Sauvignon Moon Mountain, Sonoma County
Mitchell Ming's passion for Cabernet Sauvignon began in the 1970s with the legendary, classical wines of Mayacamas and Heitz. Inspired to create his own legacy, he established vineyards high on the Sonoma side of Mt. Veeder, just steps from where Lokoya sources their $500 Cabernets. Working with organic viticulture pioneer Phil Coturri (Mayacamas, Oakville Ranch) and mountain Cabernet specialist Tim Milos (Opus One, Hidden Ridge—AKA Immortal Estate), Ming crafted this exceptional 2006 vintage. The 2006 growing season was remarkably long and cool, with harvest extending into late October. This extended hang time allowed for extraordinary flavor development while maintaining freshness and structure. Because this wine predates the Moon Mountain AVA (2013), it’s labeled Sonoma Valley, which obscures the fact that it’s a mountain wine through and through.
