MARIUS HAMMER Arts & Crafts Silver Enameled Necklace

Marius Hammer, a Norwegian jewelry designer, was a pioneer in the development of enameled jewelry. This necklace from the Arts & Crafts era (ca1910) is a stunning example of his artistry! The silver pendant forms the shape of a Maltese cross with rounded edges, and has beautiful light green enameled detail. Three enameled bars dangle freely from the base, and swirls of spiraled wirework rest within the central pendant. A silver chain is attached to the top of the piece, which fastens securely with a barrel catch. The back of the piece is marked with Marius Hammer's signature "M" hallmark and the stamp "930S". An unusual and stylish piece, it would make a unique addition to any collection! Measurements: The pendant measures 1 3/4" at the longest point and 3/4" at the widest point. The chain is 16.5" long.
