A truly exceptional copy of an early, experimental puritan classic.  Richard Sibs [Sibbs, Sibbes] [b.1577] was one of the most influential early Puritans as an exegete, in his warm, experimental tone, and in his belief, contra the antinomians, that the work of Christ Did systemic damage to the reign of Satan and self and allowed for a significant doctrine of sanctification. His works have been deeply influential. Thomas Hooker's metaphorical doctrine of marriage and Christ was drawn from Sibbes, George Herbert's poetry draws from his imagery, John Wesley reprinted edited versions of his works for the Methodists, and Spurgeon considered him a significant influence on his preaching. Even in to the 20th century, he was highly recommended by D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
