2006 Huang Jin Gui

This compote-sweet vintage is another wonder from the vault of Mr. Chen, a man who defined his teamaking by plantings and experimental processing of non-native stock in his home: Mingjian, Taiwan. As if that weren’t enough, he took the liberty of committing some to storage for posterity, including This 'Huang Jin Gui' ("Golden Osmanthus") variety which originally hails from Anxi, China where it was overshadowed by its neighbor 'Iron Goddess of Mercy'. Oolong and aged tea connoisseurship, as well as the rise of 'Jin Guanyin' (the child of the two varieties), has sparked renewed interest in 'Huang Jin Gui'.
