I used a mat glaze that was fired in a gas kiln at high temperatures of over 2400 degrees Fahrenheit with a reduction atmosphere.Stoneware fired at high temperatures are known to be very durable - with proper care, this piece can last for centuries. Casseroles and other serving pieces should be placed into a cold oven and cooked as directed. Do not put the hot casserole down on a wet surface, on the stove top burner, or under the broiler. Place a spoon into bowls or mugs when filling with boiling water. It is the sudden drastic change in temperature that sometimes causes damage that could be avoided.*This dish is dishwasher safe and can be warmed in the oven up to around 350 degrees.
