The FDA recalled Extended Release Metformin (which we do NOT recommend) See link 1 on FDA Q&A See link 2 on FDA Recall list How to take Metformin You will receive a six month supply of metformin (500mg, 180 pills).  Take 1/2 tablet by mouth once or twice daily with meals containing carbohydrates.  Dr. Ryan prefers the Equadose V2 to split tablets which is part of the Pill Pak - Triple Play -> Click here for the Pill Pak We recommend starting with 1/2 or 1/4 tab once daily and working your way up as metformin may cause slight GI distress in some individuals. This is partially due to its effect on improving your GI microbiome and replacing bad microorganisms (Candida) with good ones (Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Saccharomyces). The GI distress is limited and usually goes away after 1-2 weeks of therapy.
