NAUTICAL AMERICANA - BLUE CRAB This series was inspired by a vintage Vogue editorial from the late 1940's. There was a small detail in the cover shot that had a Maine lobster lying on a deck next to a bunch of Magnolia flowers.  This detail immediately caught my eye and I was drawn to the juxtaposition of the delicate flowers next to the raw marine life.  They looked so beautiful together.  Upon further research, I noted that the Florida and Massachusetts state flowers would fit perfectly in a series surrounding this inspiration.
