2-3 Part Mold Making & Slip Casting with KAC Studios
Join Corky of KAC Studios and learn how to make a simple 2 or 3 part slip casting mold. Slip-cast molds allow ceramic artists the ability to create multiples for production pottery to save production time and provide consistency, and also a beneficial tool for artists who want to replicate multiples of an object for use in sculpting. The objective of the workshop is not only to learn how to make a mold, but also to learn slip-casting techniques to add color and design not achievable with handbuilding. Day One (Saturday, August 15th: 11am-5pm): Corky will teach how to prepare the object for mold making, how to mix and pour the plaster and go through the step-by-step process of casting to create a complete mold. Day Two (Saturday, August 22nd: 11am-2pm): Corky will teach how to prepare the slip for pouring. Learning how to color slip using mason stains.
