Self Portrait D V, 48"x40"

48"x40" ©2011 Brent Holland Charcoal on wood panel.  This artwork has a bittersweet feeling for me.  It was one of the last in the collection of portraits I had been creating for years. After the series of self-portrait headshots, it felt original to draw the whole human form.  The expression is a necessary gaze from the artist to the mirror yet as much a reflection of my eagerness to move onto my next body of work.
