Wild Horse Rock Mountain Lion by Melvin Sandoval - Zuni Fetish

A large muted red sienna and cream veined wild horse rock mountain lion inlaid to a big cream and pink marble arrowhead by Melvin Sandoval - delivered to Sunshine in late July of 2022. Sinew is used to place a simple offering bundle on top of the lion's back - featuring turquoise beads and melon shell heishi. We love the long tail that wraps back over the lion's body - this is a traditional Zuni lion carving attribute. For the Zuni, the lion represents the guardian of the north - he is the master hunter, revered for intelligence, prowess & strength of will.
