Blazing Star has vibrant purple shoots attracting butterflies like no other plant. Hardy in zones 3 through 10. This is a drought-tolerant perennial that grows about 2 to 3 feet tall. These seeds are not for the impatient gardener. They will bloom in the second season of growth, and in the first year, they will have green foliage. Blazing Star seeds must have stratification (a cold period) before germinating. You may accomplish this in two ways. You can plant the seeds outdoors in the fall to overwinter, or you may store seeds in the refrigerator until spring. I have found that outdoor overwintering works very well.
