Domaine Gachot-Monot Saint Aubin Blanc

From one of the great value-oriented producers of Burgundy, the wines of Gachot-Monot are brought to us by Kermit Lynch. While the estate gets a ton of kudos for their red wines, they own a tiny plot (0.04 hectares) of Chardonnay in Saint Aubin, in the heart of the Cotes de Beaune. The fruit from this wine comes from a tiny plot in Saint Aubin (high on the hill) between Puligny and Chassagne. This is small-batch, hand-made wine at its best. All fruit is hand-harvested and aged in a combination of new and used barrels. The wine unfolds with beautiful notes of white flowers and orange blossom. There is a purity to this wine that makes it shine along with a sense of precision, especially in the clean and mineral-laced finish.
