French conductor (1840-1905), violinist, and composer, whose conducting career focused mostly on opera. Autograph note on a carte-telegramme signed by him, dated 1884 [postal marks indicate Dec 84], to the French composer Léo Delibes, concerning the talent of the stage singer Lucien Fugère, performing in Delibes’ opera “Le roi l’a dit” (1873): "... In telling you that I am almost as happy as you are with your Lucien, I will not surprise you, but what I also wish to tell you is with what sympathy and satisfaction the news was learned last night at the orchestra...". Size is 5.1 x 2.9 inches, overall rust tone, in excellent condition.
