Ravinala Wild Silk Wall Hanging

This lustrous modern folk art piece is carefully hand-crafted by our artisans in the rainforests of Madagascar.  This piece was inspired by the 'ravinala' which means 'forest leaves', and is also the name given to the Travelers Palm found in Madagascar.  The Travelers Palm has become a symbol of welcome and hospitality, and is often planted at the entrance of a home to anchor spiritual energy.  It’s associated with strength and endurance, and is a reminder of nature's generosity.   This textural wall hanging is made from raffia and two species of Madagascar silk cocoons - cultivated mulberry silk and Ceranchia wild silk, which is a species only found in Madagascar.  Each piece is skillfully constructed using an inventive textile collaging technique.  Measures 18" wide x 24" tall Made of Madagascar silk cocoons and raffia.  Silk species include Ceranchia apollina (wild silk) and Bombyx mori (cultivated mulberry silk).  (Read about them here!)  Handmade from start to finish in Madagasca
