Firstly the original springs have a tendency to get lost while opening the switches or even just pulling keycaps off; these new springs can not only replace the old ones but their shorter length and thus lower static load reduces the "jumping bean" effect so that they are less prone to being lost. Secondly some people dislike the heavy weighting of the original springs, particularly near the top of the stroke where they are especially heavy; while the original springs vary in weight across the many variations of the original switches these new springs are several grams lighter than even the lighte
