Echeveria "Perle von Nurnberg" is a stunning hybrid of E. gibbiflora "Metallica" and E. elegans, which won the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. This variety has iridescent pink to purple to blue-green coloration which is accentuated by the chalky farinose surface of the leaves. The rosettes of "Perle von Nurnberg" grow up to 8" in diameter, and the flowers are pink with a yellow interior. This is a less hardy variety and will not survive frost.  Echeveria is a large genus of evergreen succulents in the family Crassulaceae native to Central America. These plants are rosette shaped and some can form shrub-like growth when allowed to grow large. Echeveria need well-draining soil and are prone to damping off if overwatered. Some varieties can handle frost but most can not survive cold, wet winters.Plants in this genus prefer full sun to partial shade depending on desired coloration - full sun tends to bring out red or pink hues.
