"From the Inner Mind to the Outer Limits" by Christine Staver
Description of Work:The narration at the beginning of the 1960s Outer Limits television show was the inspiration for my recycle piece. Creatively depicting the connection between the human mind and the universe was my goal. I chose to use single use plastic bags for this piece because they are a major source of pollution in our world. Plus they are just what I needed to create this haunting image. Medium and Materials Used: Single use plastic bags, thread for stitching Dimensions: 12 inches by 12 inches Artist Statement: I have been doing art since I was a child. I have sketched, painted, printed, made baskets, done metal punch, worked with stained glass, and made original art quilts. A long career teaching physics, astronomy, and meteorology has had a profound influence on my art. It determines what I choose as an interesting subject as well as how I approach that subject.
