Immaculate condition considering its age, this large French intricately detailed period box could have been used as a bible box or casket storage for important papers/parchments. Finely carved overall with arabesques, birds and scrolls, the base detailed clawed feet. Renaissance style ornamentation, shallow relief carving and stippled backgrounds; spectacular! Bought in the west of France.
