Albino Bichir (Polypterus senegalus)
Background Info The Armored Bichir is a unique fish that is commonly referred to as the ‘Dino Fish’. These prehistoric-looking fish are originally from Africa and can grow up to 1.5-2’ in length at maturity and have a life span of up to 20 years. Although the Banded Bichirs are carnivores and strictly eat other fish, crustaceans, and other animal materials, they are only semi-aggressive and should be selectively placed into tanks with other fish. Most commonly Delhezi Bichirs are paired with other predator or carnivore fish such as Clown Knives, Red Tail Catfish, or Peacock Bass. Their unique body shape and swimming patterns offer an interesting view for the right tank. With optimal conditions and a male and female present, mating may occur in which these fish will scatter their eggs over and around plants. Due to the quick growth rates and large size of Delhezi Bichirs, it’s important to have a tank large enough to provide them room to roam and swim freely. Feeds and Feeding Armored B
