Gertrude Rainbowfish The Gertrude Rainbowfish (Pseudomugil gertrudae), is a colorful species of Rainbowfish that is native to Indonesia, New Guinea, and Australia. It adapts quickly to captivity and can be kept in a small freshwater aquarium. This species of Rainbowfish is fairly small reaching an average length of 1.2 to 1.5 inches. The most appropriate tank size for this fish would be 10 gallons with water of temperature 22°C-28°C and pH of 4.5-7.5. The tanks’ setting should also be heavily planted since they enjoy the cover of floating plants. The Gertrude Rainbowfish is peaceful and will get along with other species of fish of similar size. Better coloration for this fish will be achieved when it is kept in schools of six or more fish in a spacious aquarium to ensure the subdominant males are not harassed by the dominant males. When taken very good care of, the Gertrude Rainbowfish will have a lifespan of up to three years. Feeds The Gertrude Rainbowfish is a classic omnivo
