Sunset Thicklip Gourami The Sunset Thicklip Gourami (Trichogaster labiosa) is a freshwater fish endemic to the shady, slow-moving rivers and ponds of Southern Myanmar. They have silver heads with light fading to dark-red posteriors with females having a wider body and being slightly less colorful. The Sunset Thicklip Gourami can grow to an average length of 4 inches (10 cm). They will therefore require a minimum tank of up to 20 gallons for a pair with water of temperature 22-27°C (72-82°F) and a pH range of 6.0-7.5. The tank should be well-planted with a dark substrate and some floating vegetation could be added to provide security and mimic their natural environment. It is a slow-moving fish species and will not do well without cover into which it can retreat. The Sunset Thicklip Gourami is very peaceful and one of the best Gouramis to keep in a community tank.
