Victorian Gold Top Hair Comb

A Victorian hair comb circa 1880, designed with a richly chased 14k ball finial and loop motif in a striped effect of yellow and rose gold. Two slender natural shell prongs make it easy to insert in either a formal dressy updo, or hairstyle with a more casual vibe.Details: Measuring approximately 4 1/2" long by 1 1/2" wide across the decorative top. Not marked for gold content but professionally tests to 14k. Stamped with "Pat Nov. 4 '79" for a design patent date of November 4th, 1879.Condition: In excellent condition with a light patina and some rubbing to the shell prongs.
