American Chippendale Swietenia Mahogany oxbow slant front desk (c. 1780-1800)

American Chippendale slant front desk above four graduated drawers, on ogee bracket feet. The oxbow drawers are blocked at the front corners continuing into the ogee bracket feet. The desk lid is a single board with breadboard ends, with single board quartered mahogany side panels. The four graduated drawers are fitted into cock beaded drawer openings with their original swan neck cast brass bail & rosettes pulls and key escutcheons. The oxbow is resolved in a smooth undulating line of the top drawer, flanked by the desk lid bearers. The interior of the desk is centered on a square prospect drawer over a shallow drawer. The interior square drawer is flanked by pairs of pigeon holes and outer bank of three stacked drawers. The lower center drawer is flanked by shallow drawers below the pigeon hole compartments. The entire compartment is set back on a projecting row of three flanking shallow drawers. All the drawers retain their original cast brass knobs, and the desk lid is fitted w
