Muir Woods, CA

Muir Woods National Monument is one of the last places you can find an old-growth Coast Redwood forest. The monument is only a short drive from San Francisco, but once inside you are transported to another world where you walk amongst ancient giants. The forest is also home to a plethora of animals and due to a decrease in the mountain lion population, you are likely to see some Black-Tailed Deer roaming beneath the cool canopy.
