American Airlines - San Francisco

San Francisco is well known as a tourist destination and one of the highlights for a visitor is Chinatown in the heart of the city. This poster portrays San Francisco with a bird’s eye view and captures the busy street scene in Chinatown. The vibrant colors are classic Dong Kingman’s style. This poster was created to promote traveling to San Francisco with American Airlines. Dong Kingman (1911-2000) was a famous Chinese American artist and one of America’s leading artists in watercolors. Born in Oakland, California, to an immigrant family from Hong Kong, he was given the name King Man (in Cantonese, they mean "scenery" and "composition") because of his aspiration to become an artist. He was known as the leading California Style School painter and was famous for his urban and landscape paintings and graphic design work in Hollywood film industry. His works are included by over 50 public and private collections worldwide, including Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Bos
