Children were a large part of the homefront effort in America during WWII. Over 18 million schoolchildren volunteered with the American Junior Red Cross during the War, and this poster shows a sampling of them collecting items to donate to programs overseas. Games, clothing, blankets, even a lamp are being offered here to help rebuild the lives of the many refugees in liberated parts of Europe. Al Parker (1906-1985) was an American artist most well known for his literary and commercial magazine cover designs. His style embraced modern glamor and he was an integral part of important artists communities in New Rochelle, NY and Westport, CT. His most famous work was the 'Mother, Daughter' series of covers for Ladies' Home Journal, which ran from 1939 through the early 1950s. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters
