This is one of a series of posters created for the Loterie Nationale (National Lottery) in France by a team of artists known as Derouet-Lesacq. In these posters, the element of simplicity is emphasized, allowing the artists to apply detail to the array of environments that these posters are set in. This Art Deco style poster advertises for the Loterie Nationale. This poster is different from the rest of the series because it advertises the result of purchasing a lottery ticket and winning, rather than a special drawing. This poster shows "Joyeux Gagnants," or "happy winners" which appear in the center of the image, dancing with one another holding two symbols of their luck; a four-leaf clover and 100,000 francs. The French Government promoted a nationwide lottery for many years, and during the 1930’s they commissioned artist Edgar Derouet to create many of their posters.
