The tines are enclosed in wood, a unique design introduced in May 2015 to reduce the risk of breaking end tines, extending the life of your tools. Each tine is mounted in a plastic fitting approximately 3.5 mm deep, with the tine centered in the fitting, providing a 0.5 mm gap on each side to prevent friction and ensure smoother carding.
