Lovely Hopi overlay pendant by Watson Honanie.  The sterling silver hexagon pendant has a turtle in the center with a cornstalk symbol on his back.  Larger bale will fit varying necklace sizes.  Stamped with the hallmark of Watson Honanie. Renowned jeweler Watson Honanie (1953-2023) created jewelry of gold and silver overlay portraying Hopi culture and ceremonial life.  Encouraged by two uncles, Porter Timeche and the late Fred Kabotie, both of whom were associated with the Hopi Silvercraft Guild, he began making jewelry at an early age.  Watson also learned the overlay technique from his brother Phillip. Watson Honanie created jewelry of gold and silver overlay portraying Hopi culture and ceremonial life. He employed freehand drawing in the creation of his jewelry figures.  Many of the subjects are similar, but no two rings, pendants or necklaces are ever the same.
