This is an archival print of an ink and watercolor illustration from A Year in Japan of the Awa Odori, a dance festival (the largest in Japan!) held each August as part of the Obon festival in Tokushima, on the island of Shikoku. Thousands of people dance to a traditional song whose lyrics are essentially: You're a fool to dance,A fool to watch,Well, if you're a fool either way,What a loss not to dance, a loss, a loss! (trans. by Toshi Morikawa) There are two sizes available: 8½" x 11" (this is the paper size, image is 6¾" x 10") or 13" x 19" (image is 11" x 16.33", fits an 11" x 14" mat opening with minimal cropping).
