Wild Wednesdays: Giraffes I, Mother & Calf
When I heard that the first baby giraffe since 2021 had been born at Disney's Animal Kingdom, I thought "what perfect timing!" I'll try to get some pictures of him for this Wednesday. I headed over first thing and got in line for Safari. Once I was finally on I had my eye on nothing but mother Mara and her new calf, Tucker. But I left with more than I'd expected. It was a little cooler than it has been, and had been rainy earlier—so the animals were super active. And there were some other new-ish mothers and their babies out and about. All of this to say that I left with more Wild Wednesday than I'd bargained for. Not just a baby giraffe, but a zebra and elephant as well. And I'm no expert but I think that, if you look carefully, you can see Tucker's umbilical cord still dangling from his belly in this one. That's just how brand new to the world he is.
