S. Maw Son & Thompson Cherry Toothpaste Pot & Lid, c1880

Antique cherry toothpaste pot and lid with strong graphics and attractive aging. The lid has decorative script with "S. Maw Son & Thompson Cherry Toothpaste", indicating production by an apothecary company operating in the Victorian era. Design dates this piece to 1870-1900. Lid and base were perhaps married together at a later time, as they are a coordinating set in size. Base has gold trim around edge. Small chip on interior rim of lid with hairline crack. Overall attractive decor piece. Imported from England.
